How To Make Life’s Decisions Based on What’s Important to You

Sometimes the hustle and bustle of everyday life crowds out the time and space we need to be truly introspective. Perhaps you’ve noticed. Maybe you’ve even had difficulty finding the time to do the self reflection exercises over the last week? You are not alone. In our society, we aren’t necessarily taught the importance of down time or quiet time. Think of it this way: everything that requires power or energy also requires a recharge period. For us, that recharge period involves quiet time – time spent allowing you to go deeper within.

Today’s affirmation serves as a reminder of how important quiet moments are to helping you reach your next level and to invite you to make quiet time a part of your daily habit:

Quiet moments allow me to connect with my soul.

The sound of silence is therapeutic. It allows me to look deep within my soul. I uncover hidden feelings, thoughts, and ideas when I take the time away from external noise.

When I am alone, I close my eyes and breathe deeply. This approach takes me away from what is happening around me. I am alone with only what is inside me. I come to terms with my weaknesses and am empowered by my strengths.

When I return to the world around me, I am equipped with the power needed to handle tough situations. My weaknesses are suppressed because I have embraced my strengths.

I know what is important to me when I spend time looking into my soul. I determine what makes me tick. I connect with these things and allow them to dictate my actions.

Spending quiet time takes me back to the real me. I am reminded of the part my conscience plays in my decision-making. It helps me keep check of what really matters. I am able to dismiss the confusion of the world and focus on what matters to me.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I take the time to meditate or pray in the midst of a difficult situation?

2. Do I commit time to being still on a regular and consistent basis so I connect with my deeper WHY?

Today, I believe that my soul is as critical to my being as my body and mind. I embrace its ability to guide me. I commit to introspection so I can continue to lead a life of integrity.

Embrace Uncertainty with Curiosity and Excitement

People who accomplish great things don’t do so in the absence of doubt or uncertainty, they do so in spite of it.

In this era of accelerated change where what’s ahead may not be clear, it’s easy to let discomfort with uncertainty paralyze you and keep you from achieving all you can achieve.

Today’s affirmation is especially for you if you have struggled in this area. This is a powerful affirmation designed to help you embrace the unknown with curiosity and excitement:

 I am comfortable with uncertainty.

Uncertainty is a fact of life. Many circumstances are beyond my control, but I am happy living with doubts.

I recognize that there are advantages to going through turbulent times. Old habits fade away. New opportunities emerge. I encounter challenges that teach me valuable skills and sharpen my abilities.

My curiosity is aroused when I am in a situation where the outcome is yet to be decided. My thinking is flexible. I feel confident. I know I can adapt.

When I look at the aspects of my life where I already accept uncertainty, they show me how I can extend this approach.

In the workplace, I focus on my performance instead of office gossip and news reports about possible company changes.

In relationships, I work at being kind to others instead of creating rigid expectations about their behavior.

When it comes to my health, I pay attention to the lifestyle decisions I can control. I get plenty of rest, good nutrition, and daily exercise. I manage stress and see my doctor regularly.

My financial planning is similar. I stick to my budget and build my savings. I am satisfied knowing that I make my best efforts.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1.            How does accepting uncertainty enhance my life?

2.            What would l miss out on if I was able to predict everything?

3.            What are some areas of my life where I could practice accepting uncertainty?

Today, I embrace the uncertainties in my life. I remain calm and enjoy the challenges that invite me to grow.

Living Requires Boldness and Confidence

Living the life you could and should be living is going to require something that eludes many: boldness and confidence.

If you look at the people you most admire in this world chances are they’ve made bold moves before they experienced success. That’s the way success works.

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”

– T.S. Eliot

This week’s affirmation is a powerful one that you may want to refer to over and over again as you build your confidence muscle. When you find yourself seconding guessing or shrinking back from saying, doing, or living the life you are meant to live, say this affirmation out loud and then Just Go Do It:

I am bold and confident.

I am free of doubt and worry. I am confident in my capabilities in any situation. I am bold and confident.

I have the confidence necessary to accomplish any goal or task. I look forward with great anticipation to the experiences that lie ahead of me. I know I can be successful. I am capable. I am skilled.

I realize that life is kind to those with the courage to be bold and strike new ground. I am free of reticence and self-doubt. When I see an opportunity, I seize it quickly and confidently. Boldness is repaid many times over. My luck increases whenever I am bold.

My confidence comes from within. I am free from needing the approval or encouragement of others. I am centered and quietly confident. I know I can accomplish anything that truly matters to me.

My boldness and confidence are like a one-two punch. The combination can overcome any obstacles or challenges that might stand in my way. I foster both qualities every day. I know they are a key component of my success and happiness.

Sometimes, I might have a day where I feel somewhat unsure of myself. These are the days I take a quick break and remember how much I have already accomplished. This reminder serves to recharge my belief in myself. My confidence instantly increases.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What beliefs limit my confidence?

2. What role models should I look to so I can be bolder?

3. How would my life change for the better if I were bolder or more self-assured?

Today, I am more bold and confident than ever before. Everyone can see my self-assuredness and it gives them confidence in me as well.
