When Hard Events Happen

Vintage view of Paris on the grunge backgroundHoliday weeks bring to mind that owning your own business means you have choices.  In traditional employment, holidays may offer you a day or, perhaps two in a particularly generous employer.  Work hours are regimented, hours taken off counted against your alloted time. One of the benefits of owning your own business is the freedom to choose how and when you’ll work.  Success requires each of us to engage and do the work, but there are many ways to succeed.

Where do you work? Do you leave the comfort of your home? Do you have to work within borders of an area or level of service? Are you limited by hours available or guilted if you decide to take off for a few days or to travel with your spouse? One of the reasons I enjoy owning my business is that I have freedom of choice. I can work near a beach, in my home, or where ever I choose to travel.  I am able to engage individuals where ever I am with the knowledge that if I find someone I’d like to invite on my team, I am unlimited as to who I can engage.

Freedom.

It’s about so much more than a paycheck.  It’s knowing you can “ramp up” your income when you desire to, and if you need to take a week off for family, you can make arrangements that meet your personal and professional needs without penalty from work.  Last week we saw news of a French tragedy, we were aware that families had to adjust their plans and change their travel. Some were facing horrible news and others fighting for their lives. In such a time the last thing one desires to face is the loss of employment due to unforeseen time off.  That alone is reason enough to appreciate the value of owning your own opportunities and knowing that through residual income and the work of your organization, you are never alone and facing forced unemployment.

Whether you’re seeking part time opportunities or full time transitions, I have found a resource that just keeps offering more and more opportunities. Ask me, let me explain to you what I’m doing. Today’s economy takes twists and turns, a diagnosis or tragedy may change how you need to work. I appreciate the freedom my work has given me.  In these times having a choice is important.  I’ll be happy to share my story.

More is Possible When You Are Ready

November 9, 2015

As the seasons change in Tennessee, I find opportunities to look around, appreciate the beauty of the seasons. During the Fall we see nature letting go of that which has served its purpose. The very trees prepare for a new season by letting go of what is spent, preparing the way for what is to come.  Business has seasons as well, just as the fall leaves are coming down, the holiday season is beginning to sprout and show up!  As the seasons change the weather changes, our clothing changes and our skin has an entirely different set of needs. November is a time of preparing, of gathering, and of remembering what is to be savored, but its also a time of new weather, new views, and fresh perspectives.

In your life perspectives, are you changing seasons, too? Are you mindful of what is serving its purpose in your life? Are you ready to become aware and let go of old practices or habits that no longer serve you? Are you looking forward to tomorrow and to the tomorrows a year from now? Sometimes in business we get comfortable in our routines, whether or not they serve our business. We get “safe” in our thinking, and stop seeking new learnings, perspectives, and activities.  It can happen slowly over time, just as the green leaves turning fall colors, but if we’re not careful, we can hold onto things in our lives that have already served their purpose.

What are you embracing this season? What are you grateful for in your business life, your personal life, your community?  What gets you excited to get going in the mornings? What are you looking forward to this day? While Fall may be a time of letting go, it is also a time of anticipation, of planning, of preparing for another season.  It’s a season of gift giving, of sharing, of gatherings and parties. It’s a time to look forward and remember the harvest of last season as well. Have you taken time to congratulate yourself on the “wins” of your summer? Did you take time to identify what the “wins” would be for this last quarter of the year? Do you have your goals personally and professionally where you can see them daily?  Most of us actively achieve our goals when we see them daily in key places such as our planners, our mirrors, and where ever it is we are daily.

Autumn has come and we’re soon to be facing the winter season. What better time is it to identify the life you want to live? To live your future today by setting goals, learning new skills and gathering with others who affirm you, by choosing to make a way, and to let go of that which didn’t work for you. Sometimes when we remove the camouflage of whatever is keeping our best days from happening, we find that by letting go of that camoflouge, we find strong branches to build upon again and we begin a new season of prosperity! Life your future today, start by identifying what isn’t working for you!

Winners Never Quit

November 2, 2015

Do you ever hear it when you are doing business with others? The excusers, the blamers, the “It’s just not working for me” folks.  They are quick to tell you why failure is not their fault or the goal was simply not reachable. The very stories they tell share more the truth of the story.  Each of us have to learn to succeed.  Success is not some far away planet that only some individuals get a ticket to travel to, but a way of living that says “I’ll figure it out, I’ll learn this, whatever it takes I’ll get it done.”

One of the secrets to success is identifying the goals.  Once a goal is identified, you can then begin the process of learning what it takes to reach it.  Maybe you realize at the beginning that you’re missing some knowledge before you can even define how to reach the goal. Perhaps you need to understand a process or perhaps learn a system that consistently builds towards your goal.  It helps to choose to be around other individuals who have the mindset of success. Who share their journey, encourage one another and together blaze the paths towards their goals.

Part of the formula for success is mindset.  It’s the decision to focus on the possibilities, to measure the actions not the feelings each day. To celebrate the processes of consistency and to encourage yourself and others. Mindset is perhaps the most important part of whatever goal you’re facing.  If you can manage your emotions, your mindset and your outlook, any obstacle becomes smaller in the process of your passion and desire to overcome it.  Winners know that it takes hard work, learning and repetitive actions to move towards their goals.  Like the athlete, the race is not won on game day or race day, it is won each day they wake up and put on their running shoes, each time they lace up and hit the track with no starting gun  or cheering crowd. Winners know that the daily integrity of doing what it takes to win leads to creating a worthwhile life, not just winning a specific race.  Are you ready to be a winner? To change your environment and maybe your daily community to one where you set the pace, you set the standard for which you are paid? Where when you work well with others and train them to succeed, you are paid well for your effort. Are you ready to create a business where you define where the finish line is, not some standard salary someone else determines and you can’t control?  I’m looking for individuals who are ready to go the distance, who are willing to see visions and set goals to achieve them. Are you ready to win? Let’s start living your future today!
